WALKERS AND RIDERS ENJOY REFRESHMENT ON TAP
Parched walkers and cyclists are finding it easier to quench their thirst, thanks to the installation of new water taps across the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
After last year’s sweltering summer, many visitors commented on the difficulty of refilling water bottles or getting a drink for their dogs.
In response, the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority has installed taps in 10 locations; Grassington, Kettlewell, Buckden, Asygarth, Horton-in-Ribblesdale, Dent, Clapham, Hawes and Stainforth.
Boot washing facilities have also been provided, ensuring visitors leave behind parts of the Yorkshire Dales that have accumulated on their footwear.
Since being installed, the water taps have proved a big hit and are being used by dozens of people every day.
Mark Allum, Target Project Officer at the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, said: This is the type of improvement that once implemented makes you wonder how you ever managed without it.
The installation of the taps and boot cleaning facilities was a direct response to comments from members of the public. We hope it will make walkers and cyclists feel even more welcome in the National Park.
