Solution meets potable water standards with limited space

When one of the nation’s leading, specialty hospital design firms, Lee Company of Nashville, Tennessee, encountered both water quality issues and limited space at its new, state-of-the-art cardiac specialty hospital in Odessa, Texas, they turned to Tenergy Water for the solution. Tenergy Water, of New Britain, Connecticut, delivered a custom-designed Nanofiltration System that provides critical purified water for the entire hospital and is compact enough to fit into the available space.

Alliance Hospital of Odessa, Texas, is a cardiac care hospital owned by a group of investors, most of whom are the area’s most respected physicians. The hospital is a 78-bed facility with 40 medical and surgical beds, 10 intensive care beds, 28 rehab beds, 6 operating rooms, and extensive diagnostic capabilities.

Tenergy Water identified two challenges in addressing Alliance Hospital’s water quality concerns. First, Tenergy Water faced space limitations for the installation of their water treatment solution at the facility, thereby eliminating the option of recommending standard pre-engineered components which tend to be large in size. Second, to ensure Alliance Hospital has the best resources available to them to maintain an appropriate level of care for its patients, Tenergy Water needed to address the low quality, high TDS (total dissolved solids) municipal water that is common to this area of Texas.

The solution was the installation a custom-designed, compact Nanofiltration (NF) System. When compared to more conventional Reverse Osmosis, Nanofiltration treatment – a relatively new technology – this Nanofiltration System is unique because it has special rejection characteristics that allow more of the dissolved minerals from the feed water to go through the system, thus producing a high quality water that is not over-purified. This technology is typically used for water softening and general TDS reduction, such as the Alliance Hospital application.

“Our innovative solution will ensure this specialized hospital has the highest quality water running through its system and meets federal potable water requirements,” said Dale Langefels, Senior Vice President of Corporate Sales and Marketing for Tenergy Water. “Alliance Hospital will not only gain attention for its team of physicians and its specialized care, but for its engineering and design that includes this compact, custom-designed Nanofiltration System.”

In addition, Tenergy Water’s Nanofiltration System will provide significant cost-savings for the hospital on piping and design materials by using a common distribution system and providing a high-quality, non-corrosive product water, which will help prevent corroding of the hospital’s piping.

Tenergy Water LLC is the new leader in a full range of water treatment solutions, including pure water systems for industrial applications, service deionization treatments, and the distribution of water treatment systems for residential and light commercial applications. Tenergy Water combines over 400 years of industry experience with state-of-the-art facilities to offer its clients custom solutions, engineered and financed to meet their specifications.
