Ho-Chunk distribution center delivers bottled water to Fort McCoy
Tomah - The Ho-Chunk Nation Distribution Center in Tomah in partnership with Reinhart Food Service of LaCrosse will be providing the Troops training at Fort McCoy with a new brand of bottled water. The brand name “Ni Sini” (pronounced Nee-Sinee) means cold water in the Ho-Chunk language and is the Nation’s new private label spring water. The first order consists of 1,512 cases (which is a full semi load) and is currently being bottled for shipment directly to Reinhart Foods for delivery to Fort McCoy. Each soldier shipping out for service will be issued two bottles of “Ni Sini.”
This first order represents two years of intense planning and work towards the diversification of the Ho-Chunk Nation economy beyond gaming. The Nation is very hopeful and pleased to see concrete progress in its attempt to diversify. At first the Nation will be distributing its private label “Ni sini” water through its Whitetail Crossing Convenience Stores in Black River Falls, Tomah, Wittenberg and Wisconsin Dells, as well as, its Ho-Chunk Hotel, Crockett’s Resort, Ho-Chunk Lodge, Majestic Pines Hotels and four Bingo Halls. The Nation is working for further contracting opportunities to distribute its water at military and government facilities and looks forward to seeing “Ni Sini” become a recognized label for bottled water in the region.
“It has taken an incredible amount of talent and leadership to bring this to reality. Executive Director of Business Tim Dooley has taken the Ho-Chunk Nation down roads that we have never been. “ commented Executive Administrative Officer Greg Garvin.
