Pro-Dex, Inc. subsidiary signs exclusive agreement to distribute NASA water purification technology
Pro-Dex, Inc., a leading dental products
company, today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Biotrol International, Inc. has reached an agreement with MRLB International, Inc., a privately held company based in Fergus Falls,
Minnesota, for the exclusive distribution of DentaPureâ water purification products to the dental
profession, through Biotrol’s authorized dental dealer network. Biotrol will begin distribution of the
DentaPureâ product line August 1, 2000. The issue of dental water line contamination has
been featured prominently in the national media, most notably in a report on
the ABC News program 20/20. DentaPureâ is a full line of consumable water
purification products that disinfect dental unit water lines using a patented
iodinated resin technology. This
FDA-approved resin was originally developed for the NASA Space Program and has
been used to purify drinking water on every manned space mission since
1976. DentaPureâ products provide the dental office with
water purity exceeding Year 2000 Standards set by the American Dental
Association.
Since its debut to the dental profession in
November, DentaPureâ has been recognized by a
number of major dental organizations as an effective solution for dental unit
water quality and biofilm problems in the dental office. The potential market for dental water
purification in the U.S. is estimated to be in excess of $250 million.
Daniel S. Reinhardt, Vice President and General
Manager of Biotrol International, Inc., stated
"This is a major milestone in the expansion of Biotrol's offering
of high quality, unique infection control products for dentistry. Water quality is the number one infection
control issue in dentistry today, and DentaPureâ is breakthrough technology designed to
protect both patients and health care workers.
The combination of the DentaPureâ technology and Biotrol’s
Infection Control Sales Force make this a strong partnership for Pro-Dex.”
Barry Hammarback, President of MLRB, stated,
"We are pleased to be associated with Biotrol, a proven sales organization
that can assist us in developing the dental professional market for DentaPureâ, and other products based on our resin
technology. The recent focus of the dental industry on biofilm reduction and
water quality, coupled with the Biotrol distribution agreement, brings further
credibility to our belief that water purification products will be the next big
wave in the professional dental business."
Reinhardt continued, “I encourage you to visit our
website at www.biotrol.com and click on link to
DentaPureâ at (www.dentapure.com) for extensive
information on the issues surrounding dental unit water line purification and
the benefits of the DentaPureâ product. "MRLB and Biotrol will continue the
launch of DentaPureâ with an extensive

exhibiting at major national trade shows.”
